From a blooming lotus emerges the cup, filled with the waters of life. Above it floats an egg with a bright halo – This orphic egg symbolizes a promise which is yet to be fulfilled, a future which has yet to come. We are now willing to recognize the keys to our own subconsciousness and are able to find and connect to our inner sources. We are longing for coalition and are willing to dedicate, or even sacrifice a part of our life to achieve it. The cup itself in the center is a symbol for femininity, and therefore creativity and dedication. The great mother is pregnant with the orphic egg. Immense passive power radiates from within, but there’s no need to show it prematurely. The egg gives as an idea of the achievements, which are yet to emerge from this process. It will grow and bloom from within, given time and care. Learning to be fruitful, but staying humble nevertheless, is one of the major challenges of this card. Acting is not necessary at this point.  It is paramount to accept and to receive without going public at once – this process is a private one. This can be a time of establishing a deep connection with the self, or a partner and with the source of our inspiration.

After all, the holy grail is not a subject, to be conquered, but a token to gather within us. We may even be received in audience by our inner goddess, beyond outer expectations and shallowness. Free from illusions, we are n0w able to dive deep into our own subconsciousness, without being fooled by outside forces or our own barriers. However, we are part of the world, of our families and routines and should stay positioned as such. After we breath in, we must breathe out again and respect this natural process. A stable foundation is needed, not to not sink endlessly into the deep, but to dive up again, when it’s time to wander on.
