This card is strongly connected to „0 – The Fool “. It is a symbol for acuteness, and the scientific method, but also for the power of our own minds. Our intellect can be the greatest enemy in crossing any gorge. A dominant thought never comes alone, notions are like flies. One idea leads to even more of this kind and drag us down easily. We may quickly follow a path, which leads into an abyss (compare this symbol to the 0 – The Fool).
It is important, to stay flexible instead of tracking a rigid thought, which has the power to weight us down. Executing control means failure in this context. The superior guardian of the abyss (the own mind) is only manageable by staying flexible. This means, we must think creatively when confronted with this card.
Some wisdom can be found in the sage of Odysseus and his ideas of the trojan horse, and in the story of tricking the one eyed giant. It provides rich symbolism for the key, on how to solve our issues at this point. . The task is, to keep an easiness in thought, instead of overthinking and giving an idea too much power. Fear may be overcome, by not making rash decisions. An ounce of humor is suggested to overcome our obstacles and cross the canyon of our mind. We must remember, there is a virtue in overcoming without conquering or fighting our way through.
