Destructive lightning strikes down our foundation, which is marked by an inverse Pentagram. This symbol represents the self, which is now extradited to a physical dilemma.
The lightning is translated by the corners of the pentagram to impinge on two hands. We find ourselves nailed and crucified to our fate. This is a time, when an overwhelming force strikes down on our lives and routines. The card can be connected to “XVI – The Tower”. Lightning from above always means, that a force is involved, which operates outside of our power of reach. Often, we are not remotely responsible for our stroke of faith. However, the narrative of the crucified Jesus tells us, this blow fulfils a deeper purpose. After it strikes, we may feel helpless and deeply disabled. Fear of dying and terror may be invoked. This “night of the soul” is necessary in every instance, to be reborn and evolve from this point on. To recognize the instability of our own and cosmic cycles and submit to uncertainty may feel overwhelming but helps us to find a meaning in fugacity. Only in rare instances, we walk close enough to the abyss, to learn about these dark, but deep lessons of life. The challenge of this card is simply, to endure and to accept the imminent collapse. From now on, it can only get better, and times will eventually change. We must not break down, but slowly recover with the help of those, who remain. Relationships with friends and family, who stay by our side in such times of need can grow deeply and tremendously. We cannot imagine it yet, but one day soon, we may even be thankful for this time, for it separates the wheat from the chaff.
